FitAction is a global calorie tracking application offering access to over 2 million food and beverage items across 31 countries. Our team designed and developed the iOS mobile app, built a serverless backend architecture, and implemented a normalized, high-performance food database running on DynamoDB. In addition to engineering, we delivered the complete brand identity, UI/UX design, and product visuals—creating a scalable, data-driven nutrition platform for a global audience.

Challenge

Building a global calorie tracking application introduced several complex challenges. Managing millions of food records across multiple countries required high-performance data structures and search capabilities. Users expected instant results, accurate calorie tracking, and seamless Apple Health synchronization. At the same time, dietary preferences, language localization, and personalized notifications needed to adapt dynamically to each user’s goals without overwhelming the experience or impacting performance.

Solution

A mobile-first, serverless architecture was designed and implemented to support large-scale nutrition data and AI-assisted calorie tracking. We built a high-performance, seamless instant search layer on a normalized food database to ensure fast and accurate food logging. Deep Apple Health integration enables synchronization of activity and nutrition data, while personalized diet logic, multilingual content, and smart notifications deliver a scalable user experience optimized for performance, accuracy, and long-term engagement.
